Payments from trust

Pay the client, or pay someone on the client's behalf (counsel, the sheriff, a seller), out of the matter's trust balance.

Open the matter's Client account and choose Pay client… or Pay third party…, or use New → Pay from trust.

PayThe client, or a third party.
What it pays forFor third-party payments: what the money is for, for example "Counsel's fees, trial 12 Oct".
Pays the disbursementOptional: link the payment to a disbursement raised on the matter, which marks it paid from trust. The amount must equal the disbursement.
Paid byEFT or Cash.
BeneficiaryThe name on the receiving account.
Bank, Account no., BranchFor EFT: the beneficiary's bank and account number (branch is optional).
Payment reference / Voucher no.For EFT, the reference as it will show on their statement. For cash, the signed voucher number.
Verified bank detailsBefore saving you must tick that you have verified the beneficiary's bank details.
Verify bank details outside CaseoCaseo asks you to confirm you checked the beneficiary's bank details, but it can't check them for you. Confirm changed or new bank details by phone on a number you already hold, never from the email that sent them.

Caseo refuses a payment that would put the matter's trust balance below zero on any day, or that is dated in a signed-off month. The payment appears on the matter's statement as "paid to you" or "paid to others on your behalf".
