Invoicing settings
Whether you charge VAT, your default payment terms and the words at the foot of every invoice.
| Field | What it does | When to change it |
|---|---|---|
| VAT registered | No: documents are titled "Invoice" and carry no VAT. Yes, at [rate]%: VAT is added to fees (never to disbursements) and documents are titled "Tax Invoice" with your VAT number. The rate box takes 0 to 100 in steps of 0.5. New firms start at No, 15%. | When the firm registers or deregisters for VAT, or if the VAT rate changes. |
| Payment terms | The default due date on new invoices: On receipt, 7, 14, 30 (default) or 60 days. You can still change the due date on any invoice. | To match your engagement letters. |
| Invoice footer | Printed at the bottom of every invoice, up to 500 characters. For example: "Please use the invoice number as your payment reference." | Add payment instructions or a standard note. |
| Invoice numbers | Shows the next invoice number. Numbers are taken when an invoice is issued, so drafts have none. Change numbering goes to Numbering. | |
| Matter references | Shows the next matter reference, with a link to Numbering. |
VAT on, but no VAT numberIf VAT registered is on and there's no VAT number in Firm details, Caseo will save drafts but won't issue invoices until you add it.
