Lists
The options offered in dropdowns across Caseo. Changes save immediately.
| Field | What it does | When to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Matter types | Used when opening a matter, in filters and in reports. The first six show as quick chips on the new-matter form. Caseo starts you with Civil, Criminal, Labour, RAF, Divorce/Family, Deceased estate, Conveyancing, Debt collection, Commercial and Other. Up to 40 characters each; you must keep at least one. | Put your six most common types first. |
| Referral sources | How the client found you, asked when a matter is opened. Feeds the Referral sources report and analytics. | Add the sources you want to measure (a referring attorney, your website, a community organisation). |
| Third-party payers | Organisations that pay for a client, for example a legal insurer or Legal Aid. Chosen when recording money received. | Add each insurer or funder you deal with. |
| Expense categories | Used when capturing office expenses. Feeds the Business income and expenses report. | Match your bookkeeper's categories. |
Adding, renaming and removing
- Type a name and press Enter to add it.
- Click a name to rename it. If it's in use, Caseo asks whether to rename it on those matters too. Renaming a third-party payer renames it on the clients that use it; payments already captured keep the old name.
- Click × to remove it. If it's in use Caseo tells you how many matters use it: they keep the name, it just leaves the dropdown.
- Show removed lists removed entries with a Restore button. (A removed payer can't be restored; add it again instead.)
Referral sources and third-party payers can also be added on the spot while opening a matter or recording a receipt.
