Matters & clients

Clients

A client is created when you open their first matter. Their panel gathers every matter, note, payment and document in one place.

The Clients page lists name, matter references, masked ID or registration number, contact details and address. There is no separate "new client" button: clients are created from New matter or Bulk Entry.

No duplicates

Caseo won't create a second client with the same ID, passport or registration number. If two people genuinely share a number (a data-entry error elsewhere, say), confirm This is a different person.

The client panel

OverviewContact details, ID (masked), kind of client, who pays (the client or a third-party payer) and notes. Supervisors and Administrators can edit.
MattersEvery matter for the client. New matter opens one with the client filled in.
ActivityNotes and diary across all their matters.
MoneyTransactions, receipts and invoices, and a summary: trust balance, business net, invoiced and what the client owes or has in credit.
DocumentsAll their documents. Drag files here to upload them to one of their matters.
TimeTime logged across their matters.
PortalMessages, FICA and Share Portal.

ID numbers

ID numbers are masked everywhere in lists and search results (860314 ****087). On the client panel, Attorneys, Supervisors and Administrators can click the eye to show the full number.

Archiving and deleting

Administrators can delete a client with no matters and no money history. Otherwise, Supervisors and Administrators can archive the client, as long as none of their matters holds trust money. Archived clients are hidden unless you search for them.
